Water Storage Tank
We install Well Mate fiberglass storage tanks. Storage tank selection also plays a major run in the operation of the well system. We use top of the line tanks from Well Mate. They are a non-corrosive fiberglass storage tank with an air bag instead of a diaphragm. Well Mate Tanks have been on the market for many years and proven to be effective. They have a five-year warranty on their tanks, and a changeable air bag.
A tank should be selected big enough to handle the pump output. If the tank is to small for the output short cycling of the pump will occur. This will eventually lead to the pump failing long before its time. There is no such thing as “too big of tank.” The bigger the tank the less the pump has to start. As pump starting is the hardest item on a pump. We operate all of our tanks at a 40psi - 60psi pressure setting.
Our tank tees are all copper and brass fittings. NO galvanize fittings are used in our installations. The tank tee is made high enough off the ground, so the tank does not have to sit on wood or cement blocks. We provide a ½” boiler drain, relief valve, pressure switch, gauge and ¾”supply valve to the house on all systems. A sprinkler tap is additional, and provides the best way to get the most pressure and flow to the irrigation system.
Typically we size our tanks this way:
1.½ Hp 10 gpm with a WM-12 40 gallon tank
2.¾ Hp 10 gpm with a WM-12 40-gallon tank or WM-25 87-gallon tank.
3.1 HP 10 or 20 gpm with a WM-25 87-gallon tank minimum
4.1½ Hp 20 gpm with a WM-35 119-gallon tank minimum
5.2 Hp 20 or 30 gpm with a WM-35-119 gallon tank minimum
